This plugin converts XHTML self-closing, “ />,” tags to HTML ones (”>”). All you have to do is activate it! It does not ouput a DTD for you, so you’ll need to add one to your page template, such as the following:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN">
<html lang="en-us">
<!--...-->
